SPR IN THE NEWS
Dr. Botvin was interviewed on the CNN’s Lou Dobb’s Show as part of a 5-part series concerning the “Forgotten War on Drugs.” Dr. Botvin was featured as an expert on drug abuse prevention for the segment dealing with prevention. The show aired on August 6th at 6 PM and again at 11 PM and 2:30 AM. Dr. Botvin talked about causes of adolescent drug abuse and effective prevention approaches, particularly the need for adult-supervised after-school activities. Other experts featured in the segment included Joseph Califano, former Secretary of Health and Human Services and currently Director of Columbia’s Center for Addiction and Substance Abuse, and William Bennett, former Director of the White House Office on Drug Policy.
