The Society for Prevention Research ECPN Scholarship Program
is now accepting applications for the 2009 Annual Meeting in Washington,
DC.
All applications are due by Friday,
March 20, 2009.
Program Purpose: The SPR/ECPN Scholarship
Program is designed to provide support for researchers early in
their careers to attend the Annual Meeting of the Society for Prevention
Research. (See http://www.preventionresearch.org/meeting.php
for annual meeting details and registration).
The meeting and these scholarships are funded in part through an
R-13 grant funded by several institutes of the National Institutes
of Health (NIH).
Eligibility: Eligible candidates must
be members of SPR. Candidates may submit membership applications
at the same time as their scholarship application (https://secure.preventionresearch.org/membershipapplication.php).
Candidates will be selected by the ECPN Steering Committee based
on need and whether or not the candidate will be presenting at the
annual meeting.
Awards: In past years, we have been able
to accommodate the majority of ECPN'ers who applied with some amount
of support, typically granted as a "lump sum" to cover
costs associated with travel, lodging, meals, and registration.
So that we can assist as many people as possible, the awards are
generally limited to $500 for domestic members. ECPN will make a
concerted effort to notify applicants via e-mail of awards by April
6, 2009.
Please note that eligible applicants may also apply for the SPR
Minority Scholarship Program. However, only one or the other award,
not both, may potentially be awarded.
The
application deadline is 5:00 pm, ET,
Friday, March 20, 2009. Scholarship applicants who
are not SPR members will not be considered.
Applications
should be sent via e-mail to dj@preventionresearch.org
or by fax to DeeJay Garringo, Membership Director, at 703-359-7562.
Application
must be received by March 20, 2009.
